Big and scary, if
fairly slow-moving; holding the power balance by generally opposing any large
scale action by Sharp Set or Blue Brigade (who they especially dislike). Heavy originated as a reaction to Sharp set, since
any knife waving lightweight is vulnerable to a well-aimed desk.
The gang is slow
to anger, but almost impossible to stop once launched. The project huge prestige, and tend to
command preferential treatment from racketeers.
They ‘protect’ the
gym; nobody does weights or boxes without the good opinion of the Heavies,
fortunately this can be fairly easily won by Good Manners. They dislike ‘Bad Manners’, ‘Rudeness’ and
‘Liberties’.
Heavy likes to
think that it has risen above the petty rivalries that divide the other gangs,
which can occasionally make its members seem arrogant.
They generally
favour Old School, giving them free run of the gym, and have little quarrel
with new School and Punk, but they mistrust Sharp Set and really hate Blue
Brigade. Anyone walking round in 14-hole
Dockers and a sneer is seen to be ‘Asking For It’, and a Heavy homily runs
‘Nothing to do? Go kick shit out of Blue
Brigade’.
Heavy run their
own distillery, listen to Van Halen, and work out a lot.
