Pippa Candolini

Pippa is the eldest daughter of Sebastian ‘Don’ Candolini, Bethnal Green olive oil import baron. Her great-grandfather came to London from Sicily in 1910, and made a living as one of the Hoxton Whizz Mob, before turning to honest living as the proprietor of a Sasperilla café.

Her grandfather was a some-time member of the Kray Twins’ Firm, and for a while ‘protected’ a number of betting shops on their behalf. The Don, by contrast, considers himself an honest man, but seems to make far too much money for this to be true.

Some years ago, Pippa was allowed a day off school in order that she could go to stand at the corner of Valance Road and watch Reggie Kray’s funeral go past.
